Open Door

Open Door

"When one door closes, another opens;
but we often look so long and so regretfully
upon the closed door that we do not see
the one which has opened for us."

-Alexander Graham Bell

Something I have noticed is that the feelings that surround many endings - the regret and longing for things to be different - are important and worthy of tenderness. Like a child rocking gently in a loving mother's arms, the good rest that comes after you cradle those feelings into calm, simply prepares you for the path and the open door beckoning you forward... your heart belongs to you again and you are ready to walk through into the newness that awaits you...

i'm a door girl....my blog, even thought titled "be yourself, everyone else is taken, is actually "moredoors"......as i believe they hold so much to who we are depending on which ones we open/close, break down, stare at etc.

Karen,
What a beautiful place--last week's experience? Surely God never leaves us without a door to walk through. When one door shuts behind us--there is another door to walk through to a new adventure. Thank you for reminding all of us of this truth. God will never leave or forsake us. He is with us through the storms and in the calm of life. Whether we acknowledge Him or not--He is here!!
May your weekend be blessed with all God's joy and peace. Pam xo

sometimes even closed ones too....
the excitement of what is yet to be discovered.

Snap! Really feeling your post today. Sitting here in the apartment in Paris having just farewelled friends I won't see again for another year...so sad having friends that live on opposite sides of the earth.

The quote you used is one of my favorites and I read it often. It is worthy of much contemplation about life events. Your posts always make me stop and think about things!

It's always so tempting not to cradle those feelings of empty but you are right this is the only way to do :-)

This is a remarkable picture, it welcomes... it let's me know it is safe to come in. The family that calls this home is blessing others they will never know, what a great gift of art.
